Moe Has Yet To Operate Seven Schools In Remote Areas

29 August 2019 Education

The Ministry of Education has yet to operate seven schools in remote areas – four in Khairan and three in Wafra, which were handed over by the Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) recently, reports Al-Rai daily quoting sources from the educational sector.

Sources explained the ministry has been unable to operate these schools due to the lack of academic staff as no one wants to work in remote areas, similar to the problem that schools in Sabah Al-Ahmad faced at the beginning of school year 2015/2016.

Sources said those residing in Khairan have complained about the need to transfer their children to schools in Sabah Al-Ahmad which is about 60 km away from their residence. Sources pointed out these schools are available, but their legal status remains ambiguous as they have been exposed to theft and damage.

Sources then stressed the need to enforce compulsory transfer of some new teachers to work in these schools in order to solve the problems of 410 students
