Moe Approves List Of 750 Kuwaiti Applicants For Teaching Positions
The Minister of Education Dr. Ali Al-Mudhaf last week approved the list of about 750 Kuwaiti teachers for appointment in various disciplines, reports Al-Qabas daily. According to official sources, the applications of the candidates in the list approved by the minister had remained pending for more than a year due to the COVID-19 crisis. They were referred by the Public Education Sector to the Administrative Affairs Sector to complete the procedures and open files in preparation for addressing CSC and organizing interviews with the teachers by the relevant committees. The Public Education Sector has been instructed to urgently form committees to conduct interviews with the candidates so as to complete the recruitment process, catch up with the new academic year, and distribute them to schools to fill the shortage.
The applications were obtained from male and female Kuwaiti teachers for 14 subjects – Psychology, Sociology, History, Islamic Education, Geography and Physical Education, home science, philosophy, electricity, geology, French language, all sciences and music. The sources indicated that the applications, which were pending since last year, varied between new appointments, transfers from other ministries to teaching profession, and transfers of employees with educational university degrees from administrators to members of an educational body.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education has requested the Civil Service Commission (CSC) to approve the increase in the percentage of employees’ attendance in the Financial Sector and the Administrative Affairs Sector to 50 percent instead of 30 percent in order to ensure the proper functioning of work in those two sectors, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting informed sources.
They explained that the ministry formally addressed CSC with its request, highlighting the nature and size of the work assigned to each of these sectors, and insisting that 30 percent of the workers do not match the volume of work required to be performed. A rate of 50 percent workforce would enable the aforementioned two sectors to conduct their activities in a proper manner without conflicting with the health and preventive requirements and precautionary measures to confront the spread of COVID-19 decided by the concerned health authorities.
