Moci To Tighten Control Over Building Material Prices To Protect Consumers
The Minister of Commerce and Industry, Dr. Abdullah Al-Salman emphasized the tight control of concerned teams on the local markets to control the prices of building materials, Al Jarida reported.
Al-Tijaria said in a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) today, Thursday, in the presence of the Assistant Undersecretary for Commercial Control and Consumer Protection, Eid Al-Rashidi and the sector managers that steps would be taken to tighten and exercise control over the prices of building materials.
Minister Al-Salman stressed the need to intensify efforts to protect consumers from high prices, and take legal measures against anyone who is tempted to exploit the consumer’s need for any commodity and violates the law by raising its price.
The meeting discussed the mechanism of tightening supervision over commercial markets by intensifying inspection tours and increasing the campaigns of the relevant control teams in this aspect.
The meeting also discussed setting necessary solutions to stabilize and reduce building prices, such as preventing the export of building materials, opening other outlets for iron import from several countries, and setting up the necessary mechanism to accelerate the pace of import in coordination with the relevant authorities.
