Moc Says New Exchanges Will Keep Up With Fiber Optics
As part of its ambitions to extend the present network, the Ministry of Communications stated the planning stage for the extension, installation, and connecting of the fiber-optic network in all governorates of the nation is virtually complete.
According to a local Arabic daily, the ministry has written to the Kuwait Municipality about the third phase of the fiber-optic network project, requesting that land be allocated in border areas, around the Mubarak Port, and agricultural areas such as Subbiya, Nuwaiseeb, Salmi, Abdali, Wafra, and Kabd, which lack telephone exchanges.
According to the official, the ministry has requested that all parts of the project be considered for the network's approval by the municipality's utility committee, as well as the allocation of sites in preparation for inclusion in the project's tender papers.
He claimed that the ministry plans to allot 2,000 square metres of land in Salmi, Nuwaiseeb, and Subiya and that the third phase will embrace the remainder of the nation, with 90 regions covering around 100,000 plots.
He noted that the third phase includes converting traditional copper network systems to advanced optical fibres, particularly after the completion of the first phase, which included 28 regions, and the second phase, which included converting traditional copper network systems to advanced optical fibres.
