Misdemeanor Court Acquitted A Jordanian Expat

The Misdemeanor Court acquitted a Jordanian expatriate of issuing a dud cheque for KD 250,000 and referred the case to Civil Court. Lawyer Jarrah Al-Shareika defending the suspect insisted the penal court lacked jurisdiction to judge a civil lawsuit. He stressed the cheque was part of a partnership agreement and fi- nancial guarantee in favor of the plaintiff. He noted his client has been investing money in many companies, and the act is common in commercial deals.
