Ministry Of Justice Applies Conflict Of Interest Law
Undersecretary of Ministry of Justice Abdullateef Al-Sare’ issued a communique to all sectors of the ministry to oblige all employees to declare any of their activities outside their duties in the ministry which have direct relations with the ministry, reports Al-Rai daily.
According to the communique, an employee of the ministry should declare his/her participation in a company or establishment that has contracts with the ministry either under their name or the names of their spouse, children or those under his responsibility.
This is in accordance to law No. 13/2018 concerning conflict of interest and executive regulation No. 296/2018. The objective of the communique is to ensure the law is being implemented and to prevent the presence of any type of conflict of interest as stipulated by the law and its executive regulations.
It states, “It is prohibited for a person subjected to obtain either material or moral benefit or any person mentioned in the previous clause to carry out any activity which is directly linked to his work in the ministry by himself or through the participation of others, or own a share in any activity or financial transaction with other party in which he is the main cause.”
The communique is aimed to achieve integrity and transparency, and avoid any disciplinary or punitive measures taken against those who breach such a law, in a bid to ensure every staff in the ministry is exerting full ability, effort and skills in the service of the ministry without looking at any other personal interest
