Ministry Of Education Warns Of High Incidence Of Thefts Committed By Students

The annual report issued by the Social and Psychological Services Department of the Ministry of Education warns of the high incidence of thefts committed by students of both sexes, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The daily added, during the current academic year 2017/2018, a total of 428 cases have been reported. The report pointed out the school administrations in different educational zones had dealt with 371 cases of theft among students during 2015-2016, which means the behavioral imbalance is increasing and the concerned departments are under obligation to find solutions.

The report warned of a worsening problem among female students over the past year since they are accounted for 251 thefts compared to 177 by their male counterparts. Giving a breakdown, the daily said, the Ahmadi Educational Area topped the list with 116 cases, followed by Farwaniya 90, Hawally 81 cases, Jahra 69 cases, Mubarak Al-Kabir 25 cases and the Capital Governorate 19 cases. The report pointed out most cases of theft were in the elementary stage in Farwaniya with 78 cases, followed by 29 cases at the intermediate stage in Hawally, and 8 cases in high schools in Ahmadi and Jahra.

The female students topped the list at all levels, with an increase of 74 cases compared to boys. The report said the sociologists must help the students get rid of this habit to protect them and their future
