Ministry Of Education Asks For 2.5 Billion Dinars For Budget 2022/2023

According to Youssef Al-Najjar, Assistant Undersecretary for Financial Affairs at the Ministry of Education, the ministry is continuing its preparations for a comprehensive return of students to school starting next upcoming September. According to him, the ministry has requested 2.5 billion dinars from the Ministry of Finance for fiscal year 2022/23.

An exclusive interview with a local Arabic daily revealed that 90% of the budget will go to the first section, which will cover salaries, wages and insurance costs, which amounts to about 2.1 billion dinars, while the remaining funds will be spent on construction projects, maintenance and school equipment such as books, furniture, cleaning and guard contracts, etc.

A maintenance contract costs about ten million dinars annually, while textbooks cost about eight million.

The Education Minister explained 16 new schools will open next year, stressing that all ministries are currently preparing for the coming year according to their expertise.
