Ministry Is Fighting Against The Sale Of Food Rations Or Subsidized Commodities
Assistant Undersecretary for Commercial Monitoring and Consumer Protection in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Eid Al-Rushaidi has affirmed that the ministry is fighting against the sale of food rations or subsidized commodities, stressing the ministry is on the lookout for those violations, reports Al-Shahed daily.
Al-Rushaidi said Minister Commerce and Industry Khaled Al-Roudan has instructed the Commercial Monitoring and Consumer Protection Sector in the ministry to intensify inspection campaigns against selling of subsidized commodities. He disclosed the monitoring teams have successfully foiled attempts to sell thousands of tons of subsidized stock feeds — some of which were being secretly sold in a basement in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh.
The Ministry of Health is set to issue a stern decision prohibiting doctors from giving athletes a medical fitness permit without undergoing a comprehensive medical checkup, reports Al-Shahed daily. This move came following the ‘blame game’ between the Public Authority for Sports and the Ministry of Health in the aftermath of more than one sports incident when athletes sustained injuries during a game and there was no medical team on site.
The ministry has affirmed its willingness to cooperate with the sports clubs’ clinics for conducting cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) trainings, but the clinics were found to be not that active and ready for any emergency. The ministry has confirmed signing an agreement with the Public Authority for Sports to conduct CPR training courses and others to improve medical services in sports clubs.
Meanwhile, Minister of Health Dr Jamal Al-Harbi has decided to appoint Hamad Salem Al-Deqbasi, the brother of MP Ali Al-Deqbasi, as the manager of the office of the ministry’s undersecretary, reports Al-Rai daily quoting informed source. He revealed that Al-Deqbasi holds diploma in secretarial field and bachelor’s degree in social service. He was working as the Assistant Manager of Administrative Affairs at Islamic Medical Center.
The source indicated his surprise by the decision of Dr Al-Harbi to appoint Al-Deqbasi in the position, considering the fact that his qualifications are not specialized for the role and it is not in line with the bylaws of Civil Service Commission to work in a supervisory position. He indicated that the nomination of MP-Deqbasi’s brother was not submitted to the committee of supervisory jobs.
