Ministry Clampdown On Cheating Proves Success
The Ministry of Education through the recent decisions has succeeded in the war of correcting examination trend and clamped down on ‘easy ride to success’ while curbing the phenomenon of cheating witnessed in public secondary schools, especially Grade 12, reports Al-Qabas daily.
The decision thwarted the activities of cheaters who thought over the years the usual methods were their inalienable rights. Official statistics showed the difference in examination results over the past 5 years, indicating the rate of success has reduced by 20 percent in both the arts and science sectors in secondary level. It is worth mentioning the decision of the ministry to reshuffle proprietors of the schools was met by extensive opposition among influential figures but its implementation has exposed the rate of fake success over the years.
Statistics indicate the rate of success in the sciences during the recent exam was 69 percent compared to 88 percent in 2015 and 87 percent in 2016 and 80 percent in 2017. Concerning results of the department of letters, statistics showed 79 percent success rate in 2015 and 82 percent in 2016 and 75 percent in 2017, while going down to 63 percent in 2018. In religious education, the rate of success was 88 percent in 2015 but it dropped to 63 percent in 2018. Several educational sources affirmed they’re satisfied with the implementation of recent decisions to curb cheating, indicating the step has enabled excellent students to shine and prevented lazy students from attaining outstanding results without putting the needed efforts.
