Mgrp Reveal An Increase In The No.of Individuals Seeking Jobs In The Private Sector
Statistics issued by the Manpower and Government Restructuring Program (MGRP) reveal an increase in the number of individuals seeking jobs in the private sector, reports Al-Qabas daily.
As of end of 2016, the rate of increase in the number of applicants for private sector jobs was 47.3 percent. According to these statistics, 6,104 individuals applied for jobs in the private sector while 6,799 applied in the public sector.
In this regard, statistics issued by the Public Institution for Social Security and MGRP indicated that the number of applicants for jobs in the private sector has been increasing in the last few years. A total of 6,104 job applications were received in the private sector in 2016 compared to 5,242 job applications in the public sector.

Also, 2,268 citizens applied for jobs in the private sector with MGRP this year, and 966 applied in the public sector. The statistics also revealed that MGRP employed 6,104 citizens in the private sector and 6,799 citizens in the public sector in 2016.
The total number of registered Kuwaiti employees from 2001 until now is 186,178 in the private sector and 341,603 in the public sector.
Meanwhile, following the issuance of the decision by the government to merge MGRP and Public Authority for Manpower as one, the fate of the heads of the two bodies (MGRP and Public Authority for Manpower) will be decided by the Cabinet this week. According to sources, the two bodies have fi nished preparing the organizational structure of the new body and have identifi ed the duties of each sector and the relations among the different departments.

The total number of employees in the merged authority is about 3,000 with only 550 employees from MGRP. The sources said the budget of the merged body is KD 560 million, with KD 508 million previously specified for MGRP and KD 52 million for Public Authority for Manpower. They revealed that the laws of Civil Service Commission (CSC) will be applied on the new body, and the employees will enjoy entitlements based on their job titles.
The sources explained that MGRP was specified for managing Kuwaiti manpower while the Public Authority for Manpower deals with manpower in general. The merge will have many advantages including unification of the bodies to handle manpower affairs and help in ending the phenomenon of fake employment which will in turn protect the public funds.
