Mgrp Reveal 12,776 Kuwaitis Received Employment In The Last Five Months
Statistics issued by Manpower and Government Restructuring Program (MGRP) reveal that a total of 12,776 Kuwaiti citizens received employment in the last five months including 6,893 citizens in the private sector and 5,883 in the public sector, reports Al-Qabas daily.
According to the statistics, April 2018 witnessed the highest rate of employment of citizens with 1,655. It was 921 in May, 1,323 in January, 1,407 in February and 1,554 in March. Also in April 2018, the highest number of citizens was employed in the public sector with 1,893 citizens, followed by 1,822 in March, 1,296 in January, and 872 in February, while the lowest number was recorded in May with 323. In the first five months of the current fiscal year, 55.05 percent of the applicants, about 2,056 applicants, requested for jobs in the public sector, while 1,679 applicants requested for jobs in the private sector.
According to the statistics, the number of applicants who registered in MGRP in the last six months but do not have any job, do not receive pension and are not registered with any educational institutions was 11,473 citizens.
They included only one PhD holder, 95 holders of master’s degree, 5,633 highly qualified citizens, 1,598 diploma holders, 1,771 secondary level graduates, 1,743 preparatory level graduates, 79 holders of vocational rehabilitation certificates, and 532 with qualifications less than preparatory level. Meanwhile, Assistant Undersecretary for Citizenship and Passport Affairs in the Interior Ministry Major General Sheikh Mazen Al-Jarrah has lauded efforts exerted by the concerned employees in issuing electronic passports to citizens, reports Al-Rai daily.
Speaking to the daily, Sheikh Mazen affirmed the employees are working hard to complete the transactions before June 30 – the deadline for replacing old passports. He pointed out the decision to issue electronic passports in the evening shift during Ramadan reduced the crowd in the centers, indicating 5,710 electronic passports were issued within 24 hours. He gave a breakdown of issued electronic passports per center as follows: 1,530 in Shamiya, 998 in West Mishref, 850 in Ishbiliya, 680 in Adan, 750 each in Saad Al-Abdullah and Fahad Al-Ahmad and 430 in the General Center. He said total number of applications for electronic passports reached 3,500. Furthermore, Ministry of Commerce and Industry has completed the e-commerce regulations, which will be applied within the coming few months after setting the standards and controls, reports Al-Anba daily.
According to an informed source from the ministry, increasing number of Internet users in various sectors, especially the commercial sector, resort to e-commerce and depend on it completely. More than 400 million web pages are accessed on a monthly basis in Kuwait with total value reaching KD 100 million annually. The source highlighted the positive aspects of e-commerce including the speedy response to clients’ applications compared to traditional paper transactions that may require longer times. They affirmed that there are many privileges to the regulation including reduced cost of mail correspondences, propagandas, advertisements, distribution and design by almost 80 percent of the total cost.
