Medicine Shortage In Private Hospitals
The pharmacies of the private sector have been suffering from “silent crisis” for almost two weeks due to lack of some important painkillers and medicines that helps reduce fever among children, reports Al-Rai daily quoting informed health sources.
However, the sources assured that new remedial alternatives will be adopted in the current phase. They stressed that there is no shortage of such medicines in the public sector, highlighting that other kinds of medicines are being provided to patients for reducing fever, until a solution to the problem of medicine shortage is found. The sources indicated that the reasons behind this shortage is unknown, adding that some officials in the private sector attributed the shortage to commercial factors.
They revealed that some patients managed to obtain these medicines from some cooperative societies and convenience stores which still have stock. The sources affirmed that Ministry of Health, as soon as it received information about the shortage of medicines, declared its readiness to support the private sector with its strategic stock in order to cover the shortage in pharmacies affiliated to the private hospitals
