Many Senior Officials Under Investigation For Alleged Misappropriation Of Public Funds

Minister of Oil, Electricity and Water Dr. Khaled Al-Fadhil said the fact-finding committee tasked to investigate the alleged irregularities and misappropriation of public funds in the
Ministry of Electricity and Water recommended referral of a former assistant undersecretary and five supervisors — former and current — to Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha).

On his Twitter account, Al-Fadhil confirmed the committee submitted its report within the deadline, which will be presented on Sunday morning, in addition to  technical recommendations for the concerned authorities in the ministry to be carried out. Last Thursday, Al-Fadhil announced that he received a report from Assistant Undersecretary for Monitoring and Control Affairs at the Ministry of Electricity and Water Eng Maha Al-Asousi about the alleged irregularities and misappropriation of public funds, which prompted him to form a fact finding committee.

Regarding the reasons for transferring the file to Nazaha and not to the prosecution, Al Rai daily reported that there needs to be further investigations if there is profit or unlawful gain or otherwise in the dealings.
