Man Pleading For Blood Money – Saving His Son From Gallows

The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor has summoned a Kuwaiti for interrogation for asking donations from people to collect blood money to save his son from ‘gallows’ for killing an unidentified youth, reports Al-Rai daily.

The daily added, the family of the victim has asked for KD 1 million blood money. An official source revealed the ministry is confused because the issue is thorny and sensitive because it is the authority that is entrusted with organizing and collecting donations.

The source pointed out the ministry in recent days has come across several announcements in a number of areas of Kuwait and Saudi Arabia and even in social media to collect one million dinars.

The source said the officials at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor can only have a friendly talk with the father of the murderer who is looking to protect the life of his son.

However, the source added, there is no law that either punishes or approves collection of blood money. The source added, collection of blood money supposedly comes under collection of donations and subject to the regulations applicable to associations and charities to prevent the collected money being used for undeclared purpose
