A Kuwaiti man has lodged a lawsuit at the Court of First Instance against the Public Institution for Social Security, the Prime Minister, the National Assembly Speaker and 49 MPs, Al Anba Newspaper reported today.
The lawsuit, which was filed by lawyer Nawaf Al Fuza’e, aims to challenge the opportunity created by the social security institution for citizens to access part of their pension while in active service, which he regards as a loan by usury through which the banks benefit from their clients.

He demanded the removal of interests while refunding all wrongly made deductions without legal justification since the beginning of the policy, allowing for moral and material loss compensations.

He stressed that audio and visual announcements made claimed that those involved were to benefit from the policy, but in the real sense, the state was only engaging in usury with the knowledge and cooperation of the lawmakers. He reiterated that the government exploited the needs of citizens to impose usury on them.

He added a previous report from the parliamentary Committee on Finance concerning an amendment to the Social Security Laws revealed that the lawmakers were aware of the required amendments, in line with the provisions of the Sharia against “implicit interest”. The counsel promised to present documents revealing all relevant discussions, remarks and reservations in that regard.
