Liquidity Crisis Delays Payments To Contractors For Mpw Projects

Informed sources in the Ministry of Public Works (MPW) revealed that payments to contractors who were engaged to supervise projects on behalf of the ministry and the Public Authority for Roads and Land Transport were delayed, Al Rai daily reported.

The sources stated that the monthly financial payments the ministry owes to the project contractors may exceed KD20 million, while the budget allocated by the Ministry of Finance amounts to only KD5 million to pay the contractors’ fees in addition to the employees ’monthly salaries.

The sources pointed out that most ministries suffer from the same problem related to delaying the contractors’ payments.
