Public Relations and Security Media Department in the Ministry of Interior announced that 409 reconciliation notes relating to traffic incidents have been recorded at police stations affiliated to the Capital Security Command since Article 42 of the traffic act was activated this month.
Statement added the person found liable must pay KD 20 to traffic sector and send the reconciliation note to the insurance company accompanied by the other party who’ll receive compensation, adding this procedure does not require sending documents to court and it’s accomplished within a short time.
It noted implementation of the above-stated Article is in accordance with directives from the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Lieutenant General Sheikh Khalid Al-Jarrah to facilitate the procedures for citizens and expatriates while dealing with minor traffic incidents.
The department added activation of Article 42 will yield positive results in terms of saving time and efforts of securitymen, while facilitating procedures for the parties involved in accident. In case the parties do not agree to reconcile during a minor traffic incident, their cars must be removed from the main road to the right shoulder pending the arrival of patrolmen, and “if the parties desist from removing their cars from the road, violations will be issued against them for obstruction, according to Article 133 of the executive decree of traffic law reformed by the ministerial decision no. 2934/2016.”
