Kuwait’s Blood Bank Assists In Saving Life Of Patient In Uae

26 November 2020 Kuwait

he Kuwait Central Blood Bank (KCBB) announced, Thursday, that it had provided assistance to save the life of a patient residing in the UAE via donating a rare blood type.

On the subject, the head of transportation services at the Kuwaiti Health Ministry Dr. Reem AlRadhwan said that donation was carried out by browsing KCBB’s database stretching back to 1989.

After identifying the rare blood type — the Jk-null — the donation was sent to Abu Dhabi, UAE, to assist in open-heart surgery, indicated the official.

The donation is part of a Kuwait-run project to provide rare blood type donations to GCC and Arab nations. The first donation occurred in 2016 between Kuwait and the UAE and the second was in 2017 between Kuwait and Qatar.
