Kuwaitis In California Said To Be Safe

The Kuwaiti Consulate-General in Los Angeles confirmed the safety of all compatriots in the area ravaged by California's raging wildfires.

In a press statement sent to KUNA, the consulate said that local authorities have issued several warnings to residents and evacuated people from the most affected districts.

Consulate staff have contacted Kuwaitis in that area and asked them to abide by local authorities' safety instructions.

US President Donald Trump had made a major disaster declaration in California after the unprecedented wildfires killed at least 15 people and left more than 150 missing.

More than 100 people have been hospitalised from smoke inhalation and other injuries related to the fires.

Thousands of residents have been evacuated from parts of Northern California where state fire officials estimate 17 separate blazes have burned 115,000 acres and destroyed or damaged more than 2,000 buildings, homes and resorts since Sunday.
