Kuwaiti Youth Can Play Role In Shaping Media Future
Participants in Kuwait’s first long distance media forum affirmed significant role that could be played by Kuwaiti youth for shaping future of the national media.
Chairman of Kuwait Society for Media and Communications Madhi Al-Khamees, during the opening session of the event held late on Tuesday, underlined the State key role for aiding the young citizens get employed in public and private media sectors.
Such gatherings are intended to “breath new spirit into the media and shaping it in a manner that is compatible with the currnet period of time,” he said.
The Kuwaiti media is currently at a key juncture, switching to digital means and modern technology, he said, affirming that the national sector successfully absorbed the modern communication and broadcasting means.
For his part, media professor at Kuwait University has opined that the local media institutions cannot hire batches of new graduates.
Faisal Al-Sewagh, chair of the e.media union, said the digital media is distinguished with the integration capacity, however he noted the necessity of enacitng new laws to regulate the sector, in addition to setting certain ethical criteria for the digital profession.
Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Mohammad Al-Jabri stressed during Tuesday’s inaugural session the valued role of Kuwaiti media on a global scale.
Al-Jabri made the statement while inaugurating Kuwait’s first media forum, saying that developing media is not only the responsibility of the ministry, but also a common responsibility to which all should contribute.
The society organizes this forum through the electronic Microsoft Teams platform in cooperation with the Ministry of Information. A number of media professionals, academics, lawmakers and media students are also taking part in the three-day event
