Al-Rai daily reported that the Ministry of Defense conducted random drug tests on about 5,000 soldiers from different units and brigades during the past two weeks to protect the reputation of the military institution.

In accordance with the sources, Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sheikh Talal Al- Khaled directed the army officials to conduct sudden checks to ensure that no soldiers consumed narcotics or psychotropic substances for health and safety reasons.

According to sources, the tests are random and apply to all military personnel, regardless of rank or position. This practice is not new, according to sources, and is an ongoing process that has existed since the establishment of the Kuwaiti army, but has been implemented by order of the minister.
