07 January 2021 Kuwait

After the absence of 24 hours, Kuwaiti shrimp returned to the fish market stalls again yesterday, and about 50 baskets were auctioned to the satisfaction of the consumers.

The price of a basket ranged between 90 and 100 dinars, amid expectations that the price will fall depending on the supply in large quantities over the next period, in addition to reducing the prices of imported shrimps given the availability. The price of a kilo of jumbo shrimps ranged between four dinars and four-and-a-half dinars, while the price of the medium shrimps range between three and three-and-a-half dinars.

The decision by the Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources to extend shrimp fishing for about a month brought joy to the shrimp lovers.

For its part, the Commercial Control Affairs at the Ministry of Commerce is responsible for organizing the shrimp sale mechanism and distributing it to companies and stalls according to certain quotas, in addition to adhering to the Ministry of Health’s instructions regarding general health requirements.
