Director of Disaster and Emergency Management at the Kuwait Red Crescent Society, Youssef Al-Maraj, said in a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the air aid bridge that the association runs for those affected by the floods in Sudan comes in implementation of the directives of the Kuwaiti political leadership.

Al-Maraj clarified that the association’s field team will supervise the aid distribution in coordination with the Kuwaiti embassy in Sudan and the Sudanese Red Crescent, in support of relief efforts to improve the conditions of the affected segments and limit the repercussions of the conditions left by the flood disaster.

He added that the field team of the association will inspect the affected and stricken places to find out the conditions of their residents and know the requirements of those affected by the disaster, stressing that the efforts the association contributes to in Sudan is a duty towards the people of its brotherly people because of the difficult conditions they are suffering from.

He expressed his wishes that this aid would contribute to alleviating the suffering of the Sudanese people, indicating that the Kuwaiti Red Crescent would intensify its efforts in providing assistance and aid to those affected.

He stated that this aid embodies Kuwait’s policy to provide relief to the needy and to mitigate the effects of this disaster that befell tens of thousands of Sudanese people whose homes were destroyed and were displaced due to floods and torrents.
