Kuwaiti Pays The Price Of Ministry Mistake

03 November 2015 Kuwait

A Kuwaiti, identified only as Abdulaziz recently visited the Al-Rai daily to complain about the Interior Ministry for preventing his daughter from completing her education in the United States and his inability to visit his son who is studying there.

Abdulaziz, an employee of a local bank said he applied for student US visas online for his son and daughter and two visit visas for him and his wife. He added during an appointment with US embassy officials he was asked about countries he visited and he put down the names of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the UAE and Bahrain but he was told he did not mention the name of one of the countries he visited ‘Uzbekistan’. So he was asked to prove through a statement issued by the Kuwaiti authorities.

Abdulaziz added he went to the Information System of the Interior Ministry and presented his old passport and to his surprise he found out it was mistakenly mentioned that he left for Uzbekistan on 5 February, 2010 and returned on 11 February, 2010 while in fact during these days he was in Dubai on official duty to attend a course.

Abdulaziz was informed verbally that it was a mistake which cannot be corrected, while the US embassy thinks the man has lied to them. However, when proof was submitted an official at the embassy stuck to his version of the story and said the Kuwaiti must submit a written statement saying he did not travel to Uzbekistan.
