Kuwaiti Parliament Adjourns Session Due To Gov’t Absence

National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim adjourned the parliament’s session on Tuesday, due to the absence of the government. In remarks before canceling the session, Al-Ghanim said that the government refused to attend today’s session because the MPs sat in ministers’ seats, noted that according to article 116 of the constitution the session was adjourned due to the government absence.

Al-Ghanim had adjourned the last two sessions, on May 25 and April 27, for the government’s absence due to the same reason. In its last paragraph, article (116) of the Constitution indicated the following: The Cabinet must be represented in the Parliament’s sessions by its president or some of its members.
