Kuwaiti Leader Meets Eu Foreign Policy Chief

The Amir of Kuwait Shaikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah received, at Bayan Palace, European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission Federica Mogherini, who arrived in the country today as part of the diplomatic momentum to find a solution to the GCC crisis.

The meeting was attended First Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Shaikh Sabah Al Khalid Al Hamad Al Sabah and other Kuwaiti senior officials.

She is scheduled to meet other senior government officials to affirm the EU support to the mediation efforts led by the Amir of Kuwait to find a solution to the Gulf crisis.

"Kuwait is the mediator that we support and accompany and with whom we are constantly in touch," she told a press conference last week.

Kuwait's mediation efforts emerged as Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt had severed diplomatic ties with Qatar.
