Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah led Kuwait's delegation to a ministerial conference of the global coalition to battle the so-called Islamic State (IS), also known as Daesh, held in Marrakech, Morocco, at Morocco and the United States' joint invitation.

The minister commended Morocco and the United States for co-hosting this first-of-its-kind meeting on the African continent to assess anti-IS an activity.

He said the nations' trust in the global coalition and its groupings has become highly useful and vital for the region's counter-terrorism efforts at all levels, welcoming Benin as the coalition's 85th member, which underlines the country's apparent interest in Africa.

He went on to say that because he believes the UN and its bodies play a critical role in establishing the pillars of global security and stability, countries should commit to taking the necessary steps to combat terrorism in all of its forms and manifestations in accordance with international law, particularly international human rights and humanitarian law.

The Kuwaiti foreign minister went on to declare that UN Resolution 2254 supports the Syrian people's legitimate aspirations to determine their own destiny via a democratic transition and to halt the country's prolonged bloodshed. He emphasized the importance of greater coordinated efforts, cooperation, and sharing in the face of rapid political, military, and economic challenges and changes in several world countries.

In this respect, he emphasized the need of putting the coalition's principles into action, which were approved during the coalition's first ministerial conference
