Kuwaiti Female Well-achievers In Sri Lanka Capital, Visit Sites

The group of “Be Among the Excellent” female well-achievers journey, organized by Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED), have arrived in Sri Lanka’s capital Colombo and already visited some of the nation’s inconic sites.

Excursion of the high school female students is a part of an annual cultural program, organized by KFAED.

They started their journey by touring prominent tourist attractions and enjoying shopping in the city, as well as visiting the Old Parliament, Independent Square, the mini White House, besides many other interesting places in Colombo.

The students expressed their happiness and excitement for discovering Sri Lanka’s attractions and culture, and for being briefed on projects funded by KFAED there. Student Manayer Al-Enezi told KUNA, “At first I hesitated to go on a trip to Sri Lanka, but later I changed my mind, as despite the simple life style, we were able to learn about many new cultures.” Meanwhile, student Nour Al- Dubaib told KUNA: “I really enjoyed our trip today in Colombo, as we visited many tourist attractions.”

The students are due to depart Colombo tomorrow, heading to Kandy, as they will visit elephants’ reserve, as well as viewing KFAED projects of renovated bridges, and other development projects in areas and villages there. They have also conducted other entertaining and cultural tours like visiting a Sri Lankan village and Royal Botanic Gardens.

Their visit to Sri Lanka will end by Jan 18. On Friday, the Kuwaiti expedition, “Be Among the Excellent,” embarked on a multi-station visit to Sri Lanka, as part of a program designed by Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) to educate the youth about diverse cultures of nations and the Fund’s contributions and activities in those destinations. Sharifa Al-Sabah, a press official of the Fund and head of the delegation, told KUNA upon departure that Sri Lanka was chosen due to the nation’s solid ties with Kuwait through KFAED, as well as for the country’s geographical and cultural diversity.

KFAED has contributed to a number of key projects in Sri Lanka, she said, indicating that the 12 Kuwaiti female achievers would be acquainted during the visit with the country’s cultural landmarks and the Fund’s activities there. The delegation also includes Fatma Al-Tirkait from KFAED, as well as Manal Al-Mutairi and Sheikha Al-Kouh from the Ministry of Education. The Fund organizes annual exploratory and educational trips for 11th grade Kuwaiti students since 2010. Simultaneously with the expedition in Sri Lanka, top-grade Kuwaiti male students are visiting Tajikistan.
