17 August 2020 Kuwait

Accoring to Alrai reported that The Kuwaiti passport has achieved a tangible upward movement within the 2020 version of the Passport Index , as it advanced to the 33rd position in the world among its global counterparts after it was ranked 39 in the year 2019, thus becoming second in the Gulf and Arab countries in terms of its strength in Opening horizons of international travel for its holders.

The Kuwaiti passport has soared to this higher level thanks to the improvement it has made on the criterion of “freedom of movement points”, which is the criterion that expresses the number of countries that a Kuwaiti citizen can travel to, either without the need to obtain any visa or who obtains an immediate visa upon arrival at Airports and ports of those countries.

Compared to the previous year’s ranking, the decline in passport points for some other countries played a secondary role in that progress. The Kuwaiti passport received 68 points on the “freedom of movement points” scale, which is the result it deserved in light of the fact that it allows its holder to travel to 33 countries without a prior visa, 35 countries with a visa on arrival, and 130 countries with a prior visa.

This jump placed the Kuwaiti passport in second place in the Gulf and Arab countries, along with the Qatari passport, after their Emirati counterpart, who came in 13th in the world.

After the Emirates, Kuwait and Qatar, the order of the rest of the Arab countries came at different distances – and sometimes diverging – as follows: Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, the Sultanate of Oman, Morocco, Jordan, Algeria, Mauritania, Egypt, Comoros, Djibouti, Sudan, Lebanon, Libya , Palestinian territories, Yemen, Somalia, Syria, Iraq.

It is noteworthy that the annual “Passport Index” index is prepared by the Canadian “Arton Capital” Foundation, which specializes in citizenship services and counseling and immigration programs worldwide.
