Kuwaiti Ambassador to Australia Najib Al- Bader said Kuwait is very much keen to development of Kuwaiti youth sector through various programs and services. Al-Bader made his remarks in a speech in the 4th annual National Union of Kuwaiti Students in Australia (NUKSAU) conference which was held under the slogan “glory of Kuwait by youth renaissance,” adding that this conference reflects youth’s role in building and developing society.

In a statement received by KUNA on Monday, the Kuwaiti ambassador stressed that youth are the basic pillar of a nation’s progress, and “the foundation on which we can build our nation’s future,” he added. Al-Bader conveyed to the students the greetings of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and their aspirations to Kuwait’s development and prosperity. He said that naming Kuwait as the “Arab Youth Capital for the year 2017” reflects Kuwait continuous efforts to support youth initiatives, development and empowerment.

The two-day conference was held on April 22, and witnessed various activities focused on social, cultural and educational issues. Moreover, Kuwaiti Embassy was also honored in the conference for its role in following up the students’ affairs and overcoming all obstacles that may impede their academic career. KUNA’s Deputy Director- General for the Editorial Sector and Editorin- Chief Saad Al-Ali on Monday said information technology (IT) is a pillar of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda, adding that Kuwait has a long path in the field. Al-Ali made the statement to KUNA on the sidelines of the three-day first Arab forum on e-government themed the “Road to sustainable development,” that started in Egypt’s Red Sea resort of Sharm El-Sheikh Sunday.

He called for enhancing technological knowledge and services, saying that the Arab world is “lagging behind” in terms of e-government, and application of digital administration. Still paperwork and traditional administration are dominant in the majority of the Arab government offices, he said. It is high time youth were focused on, offering them the opportunity to establish a modern administration system that copes with the advanced IT, Al-Ali noted. According to Al-Ali, employing IT in the modern systems of administration will be a change of the “culture of the Arab World.” This forum is a Kuwait message of support to Egypt, he said, referring to the deep-rooted bilateral ties.
