Kuwaiti Acquitted In 6 Theft Charges
The Appellate Circuit of the Criminal Court cancelled the verdict issued by the Court of First Instance which sentenced a Kuwaiti citizen to three-year imprisonment with hard labor after he was convicted of committing six thefts in the Baladiya garage in Amghara Scrapyard.
The court instead acquitted him of all charges. Investigations conducted by the investigating officer led to the discovery of the thefts. The used to steal and dismantle parts of vehicles in the seized-vehicle garage of Baladiya in Amghara Scrapyard.
More than once, he broke windows and stole the contents of the vehicles and other movable valuables. The defense counsel Lawyer Mohammad Ayed Al-Sulaily stressed the lack of incriminating evidences against his client, adding that the submitted documents lack evidences to prove his client was at the site during those breakins.
Absolved in drugs case: The Criminal Court acquitted a citizen and his friend who smashed into a concrete barricade along King Fahd Road of possessing intoxicants. The prosecuting officer testified receiving a call from the Operations Room of the Interior Ministry about an accident on the King Fahd Road, and when he arrived at the scene, he saw the second accused coming out of the vehicle without injury but a transparent nylon bag containing a piece of cigarette fell from his pockets, while a suspicious substance was found at the feet of the first accused. The officer also said the duo was disoriented. Attorney Ena’m Haidar in defense of the first accused said the search and arrest of the suspects was illegal since the officer had no warrant from the public prosecution for that purpose. She also said the investigation lacked substance and technical evidences
