Kuwait Urges Arab Nations To Unite Towards Economic, Social Integration

02 September 2020 Kuwait

A Kuwaiti official called on Arab countries on Wednesday to unite efforts to achieve economic and social integration amidst spread of the coronavirus pandemic, which he described as “difficult.” Abdulmohsen Al-Tayyar, Kuwait Finance Ministry’s Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Economic Affairs, made the remarks while chairing a virtual meeting of the Arab League Economic and Social Council. He said the council played a major role in transforming projects and programs into reality.

Al-Tayyar said the meeting would touch upon cooperation with partners to address economic ramifications of Covid-19 and achieve the Arab food security. He said they would also discuss providing economic and social support for Lebanon to help the people recover from last month’s huge explosion at Beirut port, in addition to providing social support for Palestine. He hoped the participants would approve the draft resolutions to be referred to the virtual ministerial meeting, due tomorrow.
