19 April 2019 Kuwait

The National Assembly’s discussions on the issue of inflation of the accounts and deposits of the MPs and politicians led to a recommendation to compel the government to submit a periodic report to the National Assembly on such issues every six months, reports Al-Qabas daily. The Minister of Finance, Nayef Al-Hajraf, revealed 4,388 letters and notices were sent to the money laundering unit, 564 were referred to the Public Prosecution and 277 files were sent to the State Security department. However, the sources stressed that these reports are confidential and that the government’s keenness in this file is no less than the concern of the deputies.

The sources pointed out, that the task of the Investigations Unit is to protect the integrity of banking and protect it from the crimes of financing terrorism and money laundering
