No Confidence Motion Vote Against Information Minister
The National Assembly will hold a special session as planned on Tuesday to vote on the noconfidence motion against Information Minister and State Minister for Youth Affairs Mohammed Al-Jabri.
A total of 10 MPs submitted the no-confidence motion after MPs Riyad Al-Adsani, Adel Al-Damkhi and Mohammed Al-Dallaal grilled the minister last week. Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim is confident that the MPs will not drag the session into unnecessary arguments which might lead to division in the legislature. “What happens in the hall during sessions is a reflection of what is happening in society,” he affirmed.
He hopes Tuesday’s session will conclude with a refined display of Kuwaiti democratic practice regardless of the voting results. Furthermore, the Cabinet discussed, during its weekly meeting Monday, the constitutionality and legality of the interpellation motion that MP Abdulkareem Al-Kandari submitted against HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al- Mubarak last week.
The motion has been tabled for discussion in the upcoming regular session as per Article 135 of parliamentary internal regulations. The Cabinet also talked about the particularities of the interpellation motion against State Minister for Cabinet Affairs Anas Al-Saleh, commending his rebuttal and manner of addressing the points raised by the proponents of the grilling which concluded without any recommendations or no-confidence motion.
On the interpellation of Al-Jabri, the Cabinet voiced confidence in the Assembly’s civility and honesty in taking the right decision — reaffirming confidence in the minister.
Although the Cabinet commended the rebuttal and honest responses of Al-Jabri; MP Mohammed Al-Dallaal argued the minister did not respond to most of the grilling points, especially the agricultural plots issue. He wondered how the Cabinet could praise something that did not happen.
