Kuwait’s national football team lost 1-2 to Iraq in an international friendly on Wednesday as part of the preparation for the resumption of the Asian Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023.
The game took place in Jidhe Al-Nakhlah Stadium in Al-Basra City, in the first few minutes of the match, the Iraqi team had the better start by its chemistry but was not effective, but the Kuwaiti team was able to comeback to the competition and score the first goal of the match by Eid Al-Rashidi in the 24th minute of the game.
In the beginning of the second half, the Kuwaiti team wasted many chances to score, until the last ten minutes of the game, where the Iraqi Mohammad Al-Dawoud was able to equalize due to lack of communication in the Kuwaiti defenses.
In the 88th minute, Ayman Hussain was able to score the winning goal for the Iraqi team through the penalty spot.
This game was organized after an invitation from the Iraqi Sport Minister Adnan Darjal to evaluate Iraq’s readiness to host the upcoming 25th Gulf Cup in Al-Basra City.
