Kuwait Municipality Ordered To Pay Staffer Cash, Monthly Stipend

The Court of Appeals chaired by Judge Bader Al-Mutairi upheld the verdict of First Instance Court that ordered Kuwait Municipality to pay KD 24,000 to an employee, in addition to monthly allowance of KD 235. Attorney of the plaintiff lawyer Dr Jarallah Al-Marri sued the Municipality and its director general as joint defendants, urging the court to compel them to refund entitlements retroactive from Jan 6, 2001. He explained the entitlements cover allowances for feeding, shift, remote locations etc. Based on the calculation of experts, the lower court affirmed that the plaintiff was entitled to KD 235 monthly from Dec 18, 2007 until Dec 18, 2012, which adds up to KD 24,000. Also, the court approved continued monthly payment of KD 235 in favor of the plaintiff.
