Kuwait Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has launched an investigation into the collision of a Jazeera Airways aircraft (flight 787) with a radar-equipped balloon.
DGCA Deputy Director General for Aviation Safety Imad Al-Jalawi told KUNA on Tuesday that the Airbus A320 plane was returning from Riyadh when it suffered a minor collision with a tethered balloon.
He pointed out that the aircraft continued to function normally and landed safely at Kuwait International Airport and all passengers disembarked unscathed.
Al-Jalawi added that a probe has been launched to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Jazeera Airways said that it would keep in close touch with DGCA to ensure a thorough investigation.
