Kuwait Airways Denies Report Of Ban On Some Nationalities
Kuwait Airways Corporation (KAC) has denied reports that it had imposed a ban on several nationalities from boarding its flights and transiting through Kuwait International Airport, says Al-Qabas daily quoting a reliable source.
According to reports circulating on social media, Kuwait Airways Chairman Yousef Al-Jassim had allegedly stated that nine nationalities would be banned from boarding Kuwait Airways flights and transit through Kuwait International Airport, and passengers in question may be allowed to transit through Kuwait based on coordination between the interior and foreign affairs ministries In a statement posted on its Twitter account, the company clarified that news items published on social media about the ban on travel of several nationalities aboard Kuwait Airways is untrue, affirming the company has not issued any such statement.
The daily explained that Al-Jassem made the statement at a press conference to mark 65th anniversary of Kuwait Airways’ first fl ight. Al-Rai daily quoting a security source affirmed that any passenger had the right to transit through Kuwait International Airport whether he/she is flying aboard Kuwait Airways or another airline.
Under Kuwaiti law, passengers transiting through the airport need a visa if they are staying for more than 24 hours at the airport. “Passengers do not need visas to transit through the airport. Visa is required to enter the country, except for some nationalities,” the source said. He advised “people planning to visit Kuwait must ensure they have visas to enter the country if they need it, because this is a common practice that has been going on for years”.
