02 December 2021 Kuwait

Representative of the Criminal Investigations General Department Shaima Al-Adsani said the Juvenile Prosecution is now specialized in investigating electronic crime cases among those below 18 years old, indicating that most attacks on children are committed by parents due to a misunderstanding of their children’s education; hence, the need for comprehensive public awareness campaigns in which the media should play a vital role, reports Al-Jarida daily. Speaking in a symposium entitled, “Child Protection Law between Theory and Practice,” organized by Abdullatif Al-Nisf Intermediate School for Boys recently; Al-Adsani stressed that Kuwait is keen on joining the ranks of developed countries in supporting children’s rights as they are the “builders of the future.”

She pointed out that the symposium touched on Child Law, which was ratified in 2015 with 97 Articles on protecting child psychologically, socially, culturally and physically. This is in addition to making the child fully aware of his rights to housing, nutrition, education and living a decent, happy and healthy life; she concluded. On the other hand, educational advisor Sheikha Suhaila Al-Sabah is hoping for intensified awareness sessions in schools; especially those interested in promoting values and raising awareness on cybercrime.
