The conference revolves around six major themes including global terrorism: ideological challenges, trends of the new age terrorism, Af-Pak region as the epicentre of global terror, constructing effective counter narratives, politics of terror, future of terrorism and terrorism of future.

The conference said that since the socalled Islamic State (IS) has not diminished despite recent defeats in Syria and Iraq, effective and dynamic counter-terrorism strategy should be formulated. “Recent developments in South Asia, Southeast Asia, Africa and other parts of the world indicate that the influence of IS and other jihadi outfits is only increasing with time … as terror outfits are forging new alliances to threaten international peace and security,” it added.

It is imperative to develop and hammer out novel and innovative strategies to confront new challenges posed by terrorism, the conference said. Terrorist groups are using innovative technology to achieve their goals and objectives. Devastating missiles, drone technology, chemical weapons and transport vehicles are used to spread terror, the conference said.
