Kuwait Has Examined Up To 30 Tons Of Precious Metals

Kuwait has examined up to 30 tons of precious metals worth KD 300 million (US$ 986.5 million) in 2016, said Minister of Commerce and Industry Khaled Al-Roudan. The ministry testes and stamps gold and diamonds before they are offered for sale, Al-Roudan who also doubles as Acting Minister of State for Youth Affairs added in a press statement after the opening of the 15th International Gold and Jewelry Exhibition 2017, with the participation of 140 local and foreign exhibitors.

He noted that the ministry supports participation in such events that stir the economy, revealing that they are mulling organizing the exhibition bi-annual thanks to huge turnout.

In addition, the ministry facilitates deals during the days of the exhibition in direct coordination with the General Administration of Customs, and the Precious Metals Department staff. Meanwhile, Al-Roudan said he discussed with members of the Union of Kuwaiti Traders of Gold and Jewelry the obstacles facing the trade. The week-long exhibition is expected to attract 100,000 fans of gold and jewels, event director Meshal Al-Rashed said.
