Gtd Has Increased Vigilance On Jaber Bridge
As a result of overcrowding on the Jaber Bridge following its official opening, the General Traffic Department (GTD) has increased vigilance to confront and punish violators of laws and to cope with the large number of vehicles driving over the bridge or stopping and obstructing traffic, reports Al-Rai daily.
A security source said the Highway Sector of the GTD is entrusted with coordinating with the concerned departments to regulate the traffic and walkways on the Jaber Bridge.
The Traffic and Bridge Control Law will be applied with help of ‘intelligent cameras’ and issue traffic citations, especially the cameras track those who reduce the speed when they approach the camera saying the cameras are connected to three operating rooms and work round the clock.
In the same context, the Public Relations and Media Security Information at the Ministry of Interior stated the maximum speed limit on the Jaber Bridge is 100 kms per hour. The ministry has called on the motorists to abide by the prescribed speeds and traffic laws to protect the lives of others and reminded the motorists that their irregularities and acts of carelessness and recklessness are monitored by the cameras which are installed on both sides of the drive ways.
