Kuwaiti media reported that its government would take measures to pay employees for unused holidays.
A related proposal was discussed at parliament by Justice Minister Jamal Al Jallawi. In order for the payment to be allowed, the minister promised to amend the law within a month.
Khalil Al Salih, the lawmaker who proposed the proposal and tried to implement it in the field, told Al Rai newspaper that the government's pledge is a culmination of four years of efforts.
Neither how much it would benefit employees of around 4.6 million in the nation, nor when it might take effect, were immediately clear.
Over half of Kuwait's population consists of foreign nationals.
