Kuwait Eyes Taking Spain’s Excellent Ties To New Height

Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Al- Jarallah on Thursday spoke highly of Kuwait-Spain relations, expressing desire to take “the excellent ties” to a new height. Speaking to reporters at Embassy of Spain in Kuwait on the fringes of a celebration by to mark the National Day of Spain, Al-Jarallah said the official visit exchanges opened new horizons for mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields. The growing numbers of Kuwaiti nationals visiting Spain signal the people- to-people friendship, he said, lauding the hospitality and facilitation offered by the Spanish authorities to the Kuwaiti tourists.

Stance
Al-Jarallah recalled the supportive stance of Spain during the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, voicing desire for greater cooperation. On Kuwait’s efforts at the UN Security Council as a non-permanent member, he said the Kuwaiti mission maintains close coordination with all members of the Council, including Germany that got a non-permanent seat recently, with a view to activating the role of the Council.

For his part, Spain’s Ambassador Alvaro Rodriguez Alvarez said the friendly people-topeople and state-to-state relations between his country and Kuwait are driven by the special ties between both royal families. Both counties maintain growing cooperation in the political, economic, commercial and investment areas over long years, he added, voicing hope for contributing to the relationship during his tenure.
