Kuwait Continued Its Relief Work And Campaigns
Living up to its status as a “humanitarian center,” Kuwait continued its relief work and campaigns to all those in need in the Middle East and beyond throughout the just-ended week.
In Yemen, Kuwaiti aid worth $53 million trickled into the fellow country last Sunday, setting in motion the third batch of emergency assistance the Gulf country has earmarked for the war-torn nation.
The third phase of a Kuwaiti aid campaign christened, “Kuwait is By Your Side,” encompasses 17 Yemeni provinces and includes educational, healthcare and food aid, read a statement issued by the joint Yemeni and Kuwaiti Relief Authority.
Yemeni Prime Minister Ahmed Bin Daghr heaped praise on Kuwait for its earnest desire to come to the aid of the Yemeni people, many of whom live in penury because of a war that remains largely unabated.
Kuwait launched the aid campaign to provide much needed aid for Yemen as the country is languishing amid a grinding civil war.
A Kuwaiti medical volunteer team dispatched by Al-Rahma International Charity is offering treatment and operation of surgeries for the Syrian refugees in Jordan as part of a relief and cooperation program between Al-Rahma and Jordan’s Makassed Charitable Hospital.
The team will provide medical assistance and surgeries for about 100 cases in different fields, Specialist Urology Dr Ahmed Al-Kandari, told KUNA last Sunday.
;For his part, head of Syria and Turkey office in Al-Rhama International and head of the delegation Waleed Al-Suwailem said this is the second medical campaign to be organized by the charity as part of a work program that will last for four months.
The estimated cost of the campaign, which began today for about 100 patients, at nearly $210,000, Al-Suwailem said.
Outbreak
Since the outbreak of the Syrian crisis, the charity has continued to provide aid and relief to Syrian refugees in various areas, praising the facilities offered by Jordan to the Kuwaiti relief teams and the role of the Kingdom in absorbing the Syrian refugees, he said.
In a similar statement to KUNA, Al-Makassed Hospital Director Dr Ashraf Al-Nawafallah said that the cooperation of the hospital with the Al-Rhama Charity began with the construction of this hospital.
The charity continues to provide assistance to the hospital, Al-Nawafla said, praising the efforts exerted by Kuwait to help the needy Syrians and others who deserve help around the world.
He also called for increased support for Syrian refugees in providing the hospital with more equipment, medical supplies and medical staff.
In Iraq, Kuwait continued to deliver humanitarian aid to the liberated city of Mosul.
;Speaking of Kuwait’s continuous aid to Mosul, executive at Al-Barzani institute Ismail Abdulaziz told KUNA that the humanitarian assistance was appreciated the top officials in the country, stressing that the people of Iraq, and particularly Mosul, were very grateful.
Within the previous weeks, Kuwait delivered around 200 tons of foodstuff and other necessities to the people of Mosul.
