Kuwait Condemns Bomb Attack In Iraq's Baghdad

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on Saturday addressed a cable of condolences to Iraqi President Barham Saleh and Prime Minister Dr Khaled Abdulmahdi on the victims of the suicidal explosion that occurred in East Baghdad. His Highness the Amir expressed the State of Kuwait’s strong condemnation of this flagrant terrorist act that claimed lives of innocent people.

He affirmed solidarity with Iraq and measures it may take to preserve the country’s security and stability. His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad prayed for the souls of the deceased and wished the wounded quick recovery, appealing to His Almighty to protect Iraq and its brotherly people.

Their Highnesses the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, respectively Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, sent cables of identical content to the Iraqi president. Kuwait’s National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim also sent a cable of condolence on Saturday to his Iraqi counterpart Mohammad Al-Halbousi expressing over the victims of the suicidal explosion that occurred in East Baghdad and left several casualties.

Al-Ghanim reiterated, in the cable, his full sympathy with the Iraqi people especially the wounded, while strongly condemning these terrorist acts that target the security and stability of Iraq. The bomb blast at the Shi’ite Muslim mosque wounded at least seven people on Friday, security sources said, correcting earlier reports of seven killed. Police sources said on Friday a suicide belt or improvised explosive device had been used in the attack in the Baladiyat neighbourhood,
