Kuwait Calls For Launching Fish Protection Awareness Programs

A Kuwaiti official said Sunday there was a need for awareness programs over protection of fish resources in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states. Faisal Al-Hasawi, Board Chairman and Director General of the Public Authority for Agriculture and Fish resources (PAAF), said Kuwait was keen on supporting agriculture, fish and livestock sectors to achieve food security.

He was speaking to KUNA following a GCC agricultural ministerial meeting in Bahrain.

He added the meeting touched upon a unified law over the use and protection of fish wealth, quarantine and updating the list of pesticides to make sure they would not harm public health. Bahrain's Minister of Works and Municipalities Essam Khalaf had said during the meeting that the agenda aimed at achieving sustainable agricultural development and food security.
