Kuwait Born Miss India Adline Castelino Becomes 3rd Runner Up At 69th Miss Universe

While Miss Mexico Andrea Meza won the Miss Universe crown, Kuwait Born Miss India Adline Quadros Castelino made it to the top 4 of the beauty pageant held at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. Whereas Brazil's Julia Gama became the 1st runner-up and Peru's Janick Maceta became the 2nd runner-up.

The 69th edition of the event, which was held on Sunday night, was a scaled-down affair in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

Adline Castelino, hails from Udupi, Karnataka was born in Kuwait to Mr Alphonsus Castelino, who works at White Store and Mrs Meera Castelino, works at Hellmann worldwide Logistics, Kuwait. She did her schooling at the Indian Central School Kuwait and at age of 15, Castelino returned to India and moved to Mumbai, where she attended secondary school at St. Xavier's College, Mumbai. She later began attending Wilson College, Mumbai, where she graduated with a degree in business administration. She is a model and works with VSP, an organization that works towards sustainable livelihood for farmers to curb farmer suicides and inequality.

In an interview, talking about her dreams and being proud to represent India at Miss Universe platform, Adline Quadros Castelino said, “As a young girl growing up in Kuwait with no exposure, I would always look up to Miss Universe with so much awe but never imagined a girl like me who had a speech defect and had marks on her body could ever represent her country on such a prestigious platform.”

When asked if she aspires to be an actor like many beauty queens, Adline Quadros Castelino said, “I have always been an adventurous person, open to trying every aspect of my personality in every opportunity that comes my way. “So, of course, I wouldn’t mind it (acting) but I also aspire to venture into business since I am a business graduate, and my passion lies there too. So let’s see what the future has in store for me.”
