Local media reports about 15 expats accompanied by children who were arrested for begging in Kuwait.

A campaign against begging launched by the Ministry of Interior was a result of the arrests of 15 expats from Jordan, Syria, and Sri Lanka with their children.

Legal action has been taken against the arrested persons; a case is pending against them regarding negligence against minors, and they are being referred to the appropriate authorities for further action.

In addition to these expats, their sponsors were also summoned.

Kuwaitis and expats alike will be actively engaged in combating and eliminating begging, said the MOI.

Besides, two men and four women were arrested for being engaged in a prostitution business, the ministry said. To take necessary legal action against those arrested, the competent authority has been notified.
